²² He could ·order [bind] the princes as he wished.
    He taught the older men to be wise.
²³ Then Israel [^Canother name for Jacob, Joseph’s father] came to Egypt;
    Jacob lived in the land of Ham [^CEgypt; Gen. 46:1–7].
²⁴ The Lord made his people ·grow in number [fruitful; Ex. 1:7],
    and he ·made them stronger than [strengthened them against] their ·enemies [foes].
